Why Coaching?

I have been running my own counselling practice since 2016. Before that I'd had all kinds of jobs: music venues, cheese shops, water companies, pubs, charities, you name it. Nothing ever felt right or permanent. I became a counsellor because I wanted to leave the world a better place. I love helping people grow, and over the years I added coaching and training to my repertoire as well, because they give me even more opportunities to see the lightbulbs going off in people's eyes when they learn something new about themselves.

But while I loved my work and my clients, I struggled for years with the business side of things: the nitty gritty of money, advertising, contracting, etc. In nine years of being self-employed I have had to learn the hard way:

  • How to set boundaries through timetabling and cancellation policies (i.e. how to say NO when all I really wanted to do was get new clients and earn more money!)

  • Charging the right amount without feeling guilty or Imposter Syndrome

  • Believing in myself enough to shift and develop my business model in line with what I actually wanted to be doing (and earning!)

Despite considering myself a feminist and an independent woman, and knowing all about how women are held back in society and how we internalise all that patriarchal nonsense about keeping ourselves small and not making a fuss, I kept failing to put my principles into practice when it came to being my own boss. I constantly felt stressed and broke, and fed up of feeling stressed and broke.

What I really needed was confidence, and the courage to ignore my self-doubt and start to move my business decisions in line with my beliefs. Coaching helped me realise that ultimately, I was holding myself back because I was scared of what people would think.

Now, I trust myself and I believe in my business and what I do. I no longer struggle to make changes or decisions for my business, because I know exactly who I am and what my values are.

Coaching gave me the boost I needed to take action. And once I started seeing the results? I felt unstoppable!

Plus (and this is a big difference between coaching and counselling) coaching gives you accountability and a clear plan of exactly what your next step will be: while we'll be working on the deeper, more emotional issues holding you back, we will simultaneously be setting you up to gradually start expanding your comfort zone by taking real, tangible actions towards your business goals, in every session.

Are you still putting off starting that thing? Still not sure what to prioritise? Still worried what people will think about your prices, products, contract, office, shop, website, outfit...? And still feeling frustrated with yourself because deep down you know this is what you want to be doing so why can't you just make it work?

Are you ready to fall back in love with your business? Are you ready to believe in yourself?

Let's talk.
