Who I Work With & Why

Who Do I Work With?

I work with self employed women: business owners, freelancers, entrepreneurs, mumpreneurs, consultants, start-ups, contractors, creatives, and anyone who wants to work for themselves. You could be selling a product or a service, online or in-person, anywhere in the world.

My definition of women includes anyone who was assigned, raised, socialised, conditioned, presents, or identifies as female. Trans and nonbinary clients are always welcome in my practice.

You could be just starting out, or you may have been plugging away at it for years.

Why Do I Work With Women?

I work with women because I believe women face specific barriers and challenges when it comes to work. Societal conditioning about gender roles affects how we feel about money, confidence, assertiveness, delegating, asking for help, standing our ground, protecting our boundaries, and looking after ourselves.

We've been brought up to be nice, compliant, helpful, kind. These are all good traits to have! But when it comes to work they often mean women end up doing more work for less pay. Under-charging for our products and services because we think we're being generous, or because we don't want to exclude people. Over-committing our time and resources because we find it hard to say no. Not even getting started because we've been brought up to believe that only certain types of people can become successful entrepreneurs or business-owners (and that we are not one of those people).

I know what it's like because I have been there myself. I've been self-employed since 2016 (nine years and counting!) as a counsellor, then trainer, then coach. I still do all three and I love the balance and contrasts between them. And over the years I've learned a LOT. From my clients, and from my own journey as an independent business-woman.

I know the fear of putting yourself out there, worrying what people will say or think. Will anyone want to work with me? How will they find me? How much do I charge and when? Have I included everything I need in my contract? What if I want to change something? Am I allowed to take breaks? Sick leave? Holidays? And how on earth do I juggle all this with the rest of my life - friends, family, free time?

Running your own business requires faith in yourself, and belief in your own ideas and abilities. If that's something you'd like more of, coaching can help you get there! As a coach, I can help you explore those fears and insecurities, and uncover those limiting beliefs which have been holding you back. I want to give you the power and confidence to create the career you've always dreamed of.
